Selling CJSC Blockform oil collection sorbents

Oil sorbents are a specific type of chemical products. They are used in the industry for environmental impact mitigation, environmental improvements, and oil spillage containment. By using this type of polyurethane foams you can effectively solve the challenges facing any large enterprises with regard to treating industrial wastes containing oil and petrochemicals, such as oil fuel, engine oil, petroleum, and other fuel types.

Types and scope of application

Sorbents for oil products collection are categorized based on their technical parameters, density, and composition. They are used for pollution localization, collection and recycling of toxic substances discharged as a result of an industrial accident or emergency or during waste disposal. Sorbents are used for filtering waste waters, treating oil-contaminated soil, and water bodies skimming.

Granulated sorbent

Granulated sorbents proved more effective for localization and elimination of oil spillages on solid surfaces, which is attributed to their higher absorbing capacity and speed as compared to sheets.

Before starting works, the weight of the oil (oil product) spilled over the ground shall be calculated, which equals the spillage area multiplied by the oil layer thickness and density. The oil layer thickness is measured in 3–5 spots using any available instruments. Based on the obtained values, the arithmetic mean value of the oil layer thickness is calculated. It should be noted that the “Uremiks-913” sorbent capacity decreases in the winter season.

The amount of “Uremiks-913” sorbent required for collecting the oil is determined based on the values provided in the TU specification.

Before starting works, the sorbent shall be delivered on site in the factory package. Weather exposure shall be limited.

Absorbing sheets

Absorbing sheets are used for water bodies skimming after emergency oil spillages. The oil spillage area is determined using instruments. Based on the obtained data, the arithmetic mean value of the oil layer thickness is calculated, after which sheets are overlaid. An oil spillage shall be covered with a sorbent sheet to eliminate the spillage. Upon saturation it is removed from water and can be re-used after recuperation.

Recycling and storage best practices

Oil recuperation from oil-saturated sorbent is performed by squeezing in the specialized units. Collected oil or oil products are placed for storage to the dedicated tanks. The squeezed sorbent can be re-used, considering its capacity reduction by 20–30 %.

Disposal of spent oil sorbents is performed by burning them in the dedicated recycling units. When choosing the recycling mode, chemical properties of the absorbed oil products shall be taken into account. The weight of produced ash residue does not exceed 2 % of the overall weight of pure substance.

It is recommended that “Uremiks-913” sorbent is stored in dry premises, protected from exposure to direct sunlight. Moreover, for the sorbent to maintain its absorption capacity it shall not be overloaded. Similar recommendations and requirements apply during transportation and other handling operations.
